John Sapone of Florida Blue Realty. We have enjoyed Florida since first buying our home in 1991. What started out as a 10-year plan was extended to 30 years. We established ourselves as “temporary residents” and adjusted to the Florida lifestyle. We had one experience of buying a Florida home and no experience of selling a Florida home. We always planned to spend the last part of our retirement back at home in England, and Covid-19 brought that plan forward a couple of years. We left in March 2020, expecting to return that October as usual, only to find that we were not allowed back in. We decided to put the property on the market and contacted three Realtors. Two of the three Realtors assessed the home and quoted their terms for the sale of the property. Advantage Insurance of Spring Hill, who recommended John Sapone. John was known to our property manager from way back and he seemed to be the most positive. The decision was made to go ahead and sell, knowing that we would be 4,500 miles away whilst this was happening, and we had no experience in selling Florida property. We agreed to list the property with John on December 21 st, 2020. The first two potential buyers did not have all their ducks in a row and could not proceed to closing. This meant that the property was put back on the market twice, surprisingly at an increased price each time! We finally closed on 14th February 2021 at a date of our choosing and $20,000 above our initial asking price! We now know how to sell a home in Florida... You just get a good Realtor to do it. John Sapone was professional, he knew the market, he was easy to deal with, and he recovered our closing costs by selling the home above our expected value! Thank you John
